Operating out of Wellington Florida, Vantage Point Equestrian is a some-what large operation with a main focus on Show Jumping and Eventing. Established in 1992, VPE originally was a 10-stall barn with no focus. As the years went by, VPE became a distinguished facility with a breed focus of Dutch Warmbloods and a discipline focus of Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing. Currently housing 62 fine champions spread throughout 4 barns, our staff provide 24/7 care that ensures all horses individual needs are fulfilled every day. By living on-property in special housing, our staff team monitors our stock with special cameras set up in each stall to make sure that nothing goes wrong in the middle of the night. Every day horses are taken out to be exercised, and trained by our nationally-renowned instructors. This blog will show insight to VPE's daily (or weekly) life! Staff members will post photos and explain their activities and tasks that they are responsible for, as well as their successes and any interesting happenings!
Saved just in case!
Erica huffed as the phone rang. On the fifth ring, the call picked up.
"Allison, mind explaining where in the world you are? And where my riders are as well?"
Laughter poured through the speaker
"So, funny story, Keegan, Kei, Sigren and I are all here at West Palm B-."
"Hi Ms.Ackerson!!" A heavily accented voice giggled. "We took some of the horses to the... what's it called.. vad är ordet för stranden.. ah! Beach!"
"Everything is fine Erica. We'll be back in a few hours. Summer is almost over, we just wanted to get away for a day! Also, two of your people haven't ever been to the beach. That's a crime! This is Florida, you have to go to the beach at least two times a month, or you'll be arrested"
Gasps of shock could be heard in the background
"Ms. Allison.. am I going to be arrested? I've been here a year and today's the first day I've visited the beach.."
"I was kidding Kei, don't worry."
"Allison, I swear to god, you better bring my horses back in the condition they left in. Let me know next time you're going to leave like that! You ruined my schedule, now I have to pay my staff for double shifts!"
"Bummed you couldn't come?"
".... A little."
"I promise we'll bring everyone next time. I saw you had meetings all day and didn't want to interfere."
"Thank you for that, but you better keep that promise."
"Will do. Hold on.. Alright! Photo incoming."
"You all look lovely. Take lots of photos for me, alright?"
"Sure thing boss. Take care."
From left to right: Sigren on Aralanni, Allison on Hayabusa, Keiji on Ryker, and Keegan on Tachycardia.
Haha, they ran off to the beach! Brilliant , hope they have a good time !
"Hello, this is Ms. Ackerson"
"Erica, hey! It's Allison."
"Oh hey Alli. What's up?"
"Yeah so you know how you said I could buy a new eventer to add to the team?"
"Allison, what did you do?"
"Haha, so uh, I might have given Kei the money and told her to buy whatever looked good."
A large groan emitted from the reciever
"Allison.. I swear to god I will kill you some day. I will actually choke you out, and your tombstone will be an ugly mustard yellow."
"You love me too much to do that. Anyways, i'll text you photos. Kei already took her out for a spin"
"Please, please just tell me the horse is an eventer at LEAST."
"You're actually terrible."
"Cute, isn't she? Her name is Tachycardia, I love it."
"I'm going to get tachycardia from the stress you put me under. You do realize you bought a horse who can't jump oxers, right?"
"Oh try and sound a little bit fine with it. Sure, she's a little green. But we can work on it! I'm your best trainer, I can do anything."
"And the only trainer. You better teach her how to jump correctly, last I checked there are no ladders in show jumping."
"I'm the superman of training."
"Sure you are. I'll call you later. She.. is really cute though. But tell Kei she's on stall duty for the main barn."
"Told ya. See you soon."
haha! your staff are naughty!!
Tachycardia is so pretty, I'm sure your staff will have fun teaching her how to jump properly
Allison looked down at her phone, lighting up with a message from Keiji.
"Sorry I couldn't be there today, got caught up with Erica. Lailah should be there any minute with the trailer to pick you up, she's been briefed with the situation." The text read. Allison sat down on the closest bench in the airport terminal, shooting off a quick "thanks" to her rider.
"Sorry I couldn't get here sooner enough," Lailah smiled apologetically, opening the passenger door. "I left as soon as I could. But enough about that! Show me the horse you got!"
Allison laughed. "You'll see him soon enough, Lailah. He's a stunning eventer. Lets pull around to the back now."
The dressage rider started the drive to the designated part of the tarmac, having been to the airport to pick up horses flying in from other countries several times before.
"Erica thinks we're here to pick up dressage horses, which is partially true, I guess," Lailah spoke. "I have two flying in along with the stallion you brought. Beautiful bays, i'm really happy we're finally expanding the dressage team. I've needed more to busy myself with!" The two chuckled. Allison started describing her trip to Switzerland as they drove, Lailah ooh'ing and ahh'ing at her stories.
When they reached the unloading zone, another trailer was there and the shipping staff were already lowering some horse boxes. Hopping out of the truck, Allison went to go find the one overseeing the whole thing to confirm that it was her horses she was taking.
"Lailah! Come take a look at him!" She called as her boxes were lowered to the ground. Taking out the chestnut stallion, Lailah's jaw dropped.
"Holy shit Allison. I would have spent the same amount on him. He's absolutely gorgeous!"
"I know, right? Here, your boys are in the next two over."
strong textSecuring the horses into the trailer, they started the trek back to the estate.__
Hours pass before Allison got a call from Erica.
"Hey Boss, what's up?"
"Hey! Just wondering how you are from your trip to your family. Welcome back!"
"Thanks Erica! They're great, everyone missed me a whole lot."
"Haha, I bet. So what have you been up to?"
"I got home a bit ago, been relaxing in my apartment since."
"Sounds nice. So, you know I follow you on instagram, right?"
The color drained from Allison's face. Being stuck at home with nothing to do, she starting posting her Switzerland adventure on Instagram.
"Sounds about right. Seven hundred thousand dollars, Allison? Are you ----ing serious? Give me one good reason not to sell this horse and fire you RIGHT now. I swear to god, I'm going to choke you out! I can't believe this! Honestly! Really man?"
Erica ranted with many, many expletives for the next five minutes.
"Is there ANY way at all you can justify this?"
"Well... not really.. He was really pretty, and you said you needed more eventers! He's got Noveau in his pedigree too."
"Not seven hundred thousand dollar eventers! Are you kidding me? Who the hell is Noveau even! God! You're paying me back every cent."
Erica hung up the phone.
"Well.. could have gone worse."
Welcome Novateur to the team! An absolutely breathtaking Selle Français.
i followed that auction. you are most definitely mad my girl xD
This might be a bit picture heavy ^^
"Wow Lailah, you sure know how to pick out a horse!" Allison laughed, petting the horses necks.
"Here, let me get a photo of you guys. Now pooose!"
Baldassare FN & KPE Armenio
"Perfect!" Lailah exlaimed. "Let's go get pictures of the others."
"Hey, Allison! I have the perfect photo idea. Come over here with Nova."
"Haha, I love it Lailah! This is one for the photobook."
You have so many gorgeous horses And it always makes me smile to see Rivamax, you have done so well with him! I've lost track of the amount of horses that just disappeared into the middle of nowhere but I see him around a lot, so thank you for that
Thank you so much Callixta! Max holds a special place in my heart <3
"Yooo, Erica!" Allison called. "Newest arrival is here. Who is he, anyways?"
Erica walked up behind Allison, eyeing the loaded trailer with a horse homebound for France.
"Newest horse we bred for Foxhurst Farms," Erica walked up to the trailer and started to unlock the doors. "Absolute stunner, but he's been bound for France since the beginning."
Erica let down the ramp, hopped in through the side door, and clipped the leadrope to the stallion's halter, Allison already unlatching the gate for him to back out through.
Fully unloading the anxious stallion, Erica gave him a bit of slack to walk around on.
"Erica. You're shitting me."
"Nope. He's temporarily resting here for the year until we can get him to Bordeaux, with Claire Baudet." Erica patted his neck, the stallion's head shooting up and eyes wide, snorting loudly.
"You'll be continuing his training while he's here, while Claire acclimates her other horses from us."
Allison's jaw was hanging open still, from when she first caught eye of his unique coat.
"We have to keep him Erica. You can't let him slip away from us like this!"
Erica shook her head firmly, jaw set. "We're under contract, Allison, or I would. You have that expensive new horse to play with anyways, we can't afford another horse right now. Not until we get more staff. You'll start his training as soon as he's out of quarantine."
Sighing, Allison stepped slowly towards the stallion. "What's his name, Boss?"
Erica smirked. "Foxhurst's Cornet."
"Erica. He's breathtaking."
The stable owner chuckled. "I know. Lets go get him put away."
"Erica! He's a dream to ride! Sure, a bit skittish, but an absolute dream."
"He better be. Bred solely for Show Jumping. Pedigree is incredible, too. Go take him over a few jumps now."
Cornet will head off to our sister stable in France in 12 months! We'll definitely show more of this guy off. My hands are dead from making his marking!
Your Cornet is stunning
annieyagaYour Cornet is stunning
Thank you so much Annie! <3
Another crosspost, sorry
“Yo, girl, wake up. Your class is in 20 minutes, go get warmed up!” Erica shook her head rider awake.
“Ms. Erica… five more minutes please..” Keiji muttered, stirring slightly in her seat. Londinium stood next to her, leg still cocked and eyes shut.
““No!” The trainer barked out with a laugh. “Come on, come on! You can nap after your class, it’s the last of the day.”
The rider rolled her head back and groaned. “Fine, fine,” she said, stretching her arms out, accidentally hitting London with her left arm startling the mare awake. Standing up, she stood taller stretching her whole body awake. Petting the mares neck, they set off towards the warm up ring.
“No, no, no, Kei! You know better than this. You sit back and wait for the three, don’t rush it to two and a half!” Erica barked out as the duo came out of a jump. She shook her head and sighed. “Do you need a coffee or something? Get you jumpstarted before your class?” Keiji came down from the canter and nodded her head.
“Yo Lailah, can you bring us some coffee?” Erica called out to her staff at the side of the ring.
“Sure thing boss,” Lailah called back, as Keiji walked to Erica. “While Lailah’s getting us drinks, go trot around and wake up a little more. If you’re not feeling it today, we can always scratch, alright? You come first, girl.” She patted her leg.
“Thank you for the concern Ms. Erica, but I’ll be alright.” She picked up a trot.
“Kei, that was perfect! Best ride i’ve ever seen you do. That was amazing!” Erica was all smiles, walking alongside her rider and petting London’s neck. “Let’s all go out for drinks when you’ve squared her away.”
“Sure thing miss,” Keiji laughed.
Valeri hopped onto the bay mare with assistance from Lailah, taking the bottle of water offered to her and took a long sip of it.
“So you want me to go easy up to seven,” the rider pointed with one hand at the jumps she was referencing, giving the bottle back to her girlfriend, “then gear her up from eight to ten?” Valeri looked down at her trainer.
“You got it Val. Good luck you two, go get ‘em out there.” Erica patted her rider’s leg. “Don’t forget to breathe.”
Valeri and Memry trotted into the ring, the brunettes eyes running over each jump in the course she was going to take. All eyes were on them, Memories outstanding coat and confident head pulled the bystander’s gazes onto them, eager to see how they performed. Picking up a canter, the pair headed off to the first line of jumps, confidence in their stride and a ribbon on their mind.
The duo cleared jumps with ease, leaving the obstacles with inches of room to spare. They cantered towards the last jump, a large oxer, when the mare tripped. Everything seemed to go in slo-mo for Valeri. The mare went head over heels, Valeri flying over Memry’s neck and landing in the dirt. The only things she could hear was the thud of their bodies into the ground, the snap of the wooden pole and her own bones.
Valeri’s blood pounded in her ears, face tight in pain. She slowly flexed her muscles, stopping when pain shot up her left leg and arm. Looking around for her mount, she saw the mare stand up and limp towards the gate. Her team ran towards Valeri with medical in tow, faces stricken with fear and worry.
“Don’t worry Val, medics are here now. Breathe, just breathe.”
Wow, I just read through your entire album and I love it! You gave every single one of your characters such a unique personality, it's a pleasure to read and the pictures fit very well. I'll definitely keep an eye out for future posts ^^
Another crosspost..... i'll try to stay more up-to-date with this album!
The bustle after the fall was short, but quick-paced. Valeri was carted off on a bright orange board, medics careful to not disturb the broken bones, but her pain from the initial breaks showed through on her pinched face. Lailah and Erica running alongside Valeri, as Allison ran to catch the limping Memry before the mare hobbled through the gate. Valeri was quickly loaded up into an ambulance, Memories slowly taken to her stall, and the arena reset for the next competitors.
"Allison, what did the vet say about Memry?" Lailah spoke sleepily over the phone, concern tinging her voice. Waiting with Valeri ran the dressage rider thin with worry. "Valeri was all over me asking about her. She saw her limp off, and won't rest until she knows what's going on with her mare."
The trainer sighed. "Vet said the poor girl's suffered from a suspensory injury, front left. Nothing we haven't seen before, but always a stressful ordeal. We've already set into place a treatment plan, but she'll be out for half the year."
Lailah cursed. "Well," she sighed, "Thank you for your help, Ali. I'll swing by later tonight to help with feeding."
Allison chuckled. "No need, girlie. Go take a nap, you sound like shit," she said, smiling to herself.
The dressage rider laughed. "Love you too, Allison."
i absolutely love your album!
