A new dude
Marquis and Burton had two friends of theirs staying the majoring of the summer at their place, aka English Yew. As of now, only one of the two are in Ireland, the others back in England until schools out - hence him being a teacher.
so for the two weeks that are left for their friend, Winfred (the one whose a teacher) to finish off the school year, they'll be accompanied by Winn's fiance, Walt. (gays are friends with gays y'know)
Walt is a little childish dude whose pretty clingy to his "hubby" so Marquis and Burton have to keep him occupied and happy, so he's not sad without his boyfriend. In some ways, referring to this dude, it's a bit like babysitting but the "baby" is a hyper 27 year old man.
Neither of them really mind, they've known Walt long enough that that's just the way he is and always been. So they'll be a lot of facetime calls to England.
Walt's been following the two around for the most part, being interested in all the horsey commotion. The little dudes been anxious to try out riding, seeing everyone else riding horses. Marquis and Burton were a bit stumped on who Walt could ride, finding a horse that would do well with a beginner rider who has only one arm, wouldn't be the easiest until Walt gets a little more experience.
They decided on a fjord horse named Trollet! (from @Marakatha) with Burton taking out an older andalusion mare their daughter, Julie to sit on while EYEC Fantasia is lead around.
Marquis was going out to get a feel for one of our newer horses,IFS Mitternacht (from @StacieFuchs)
"Okay Walt, so for today you're just gonna walk around the ring for today, Trollet already had a few lessons today, so we can't over work him. So today we'll just work on posture." Burton told Walt, showing him how to hold the reins.
"Oh, okay.." Walt said sounding disappointed. "Are you gonna be riding at all?"
"Mmm no, not today. I'm a bit under the weather so I'm just going to be leading around Julia on that white horse over there." Burton told him politely giving Trollet a small pat. "Mark is riding though"
"Oh the brown horse?"
"yeah, the dark bay."
"what's his name?"
"her names Mitternacht." Burton said leaving Walt to himself and heading over the Mark and the other three.
"OO that means Midnight in German!" walt said sounding accomplished.
"we're all aware Walt, all three of us can speak German." Marquis said chuckling, handing the grey over to Burton.
" Shhhhhhhhhh" Walt said, walking the fjord to the rail. Marquis rolled his eyes and went to get ready to mount.
Burton kept ahold of the andalusian while Mitternacht stood for Marquis.
"Hey, Burt, you sure it's okay for Julie to be on Fantasia, don't you think you could've brought out a different- maybe calmer horse?" Marquis asked in concern.
"Yeah Yeah, of course, it'll be fine. Fantasia is lazy, besides Julie loves this horse," Burton reassured him.
"eh,, could you possibly hop on with her just to make sure she doesn't fall off, or if Fantasia does anything you can make sure she's fine?" Marquis asked, putting his foot in the stirrup.
"Mark, she won't do anything.."
Marquis gave Burton puppy eyes.
"sigh alright then."
"thanks, Burton! I appreciate it!" Marquis said, hopping up onto the bay mare.
"No problem Marquis, don't want you to have a heart attack over a horse." Burton teased.
"Oh hush up Burt, I don't usually give a crap about horses, alright, just thats kinda our daughter." Marquis told him raising an eyebrow.
"Marquis, I'm just teasing you, mate! You're like a million times better when it comes to being confident with horses." Burton told him,.
"Pf, that's not true."
"Let's just have this argument later, Mark." Burton said chuckling.
"our non aggressive argument." Marquis remarked, trotting Mitternacht forward.
The ride was pretty relaxed. Walt was pretty amused walking the fjord around, getting a bit of schooling from Burton as he road on Fantasia with his daughter. Those two did little of anything, Burton making Fantasia trot a little which was very entertaining to Julie, and a little nerve-wracking for Marquis, aka the over-protective dad.
Marquis enjoyed his first time riding the new horse. Since it's only ever his first time, riding this horse, he didn't do any extreme work on her. They did some of the usual, walking, trotting , and cantering. He got her over a few small jumps, just to get a feel for her. In the end Marquis really enjoyed Mitternacht and won't be hesitant to take her out for more riders, and hopefully do some more training on her to get some more jumping done.
There was some simply banter between the three young men, Dumb things you would expect, some catching up with one another, joking, and some other off topic conversations. That along with Burton telling Walt to fix his posture constantly. This is when walt realizes why there are so many riding instructor jokes. The "put your heel down!" was now a reality. He's gonna have ot get used to it if he's gonna be taking lessons all rest of the spring and summer,,,
but Walt was undeniably in love with Trollet already...
some examples of the conversations between them:
Walt: "Is that even your shirt, Burton?"
Burton "nah, it's Marks."
Marquis: "oh, I wondered why that shirt looked familiar."
Walt: "heh, I stole like five of Winfred's shirts."
Burton and Marquis: "oh."
Marquis: "Burton, who the f-"
Walt: "LANGUAGE MARQUIS."
Marquis : "Oh says you."
Burton: "Continue, but pg."
Marquis : "Winfred's tall as hell what horse would we even put him on??"
Burton: "Oh crap."
More updates to come on Walt and what's going on with his riding, but today was more of keeping Walt occupied than an actual lesson..
