Very cute idea! So good that you found the Mare! She can live a better Life now
Our newest addition is not really a rescue, nor is she permanent...Haveaniceday is a newly retired OTTB who is staying in one of our paddocks for a quarantine of 2 weeks before she heads off to her new owner who is excited to bring her homeWe had a little fun doing a studio shoot with her for her owner and here is my favourite shot:Even though she won't be with us for long, it will be bittersweet watching her pull away in a trailer, off to her new home
Scarlett still my fave
Wow..what a ba(y)be! I hope she likes her new home
We free jumped Scarlett today with outstanding results! She jumped 4 feet easily
No scope, no hope, amiright?
Wow I love her colouring and the edit too
Thank you very much
Scarlett is so pretty, and looks like a great jumper too
Isn't she? I'm so happy we gave her a second chance
Today is bittersweet. Gwen had her last ride on Scarlett before she goes to her new home with @porshaa who has adopted her for her boyfriend to learn on. A very suitable home for such a caring mare . Soon our very first rescue will be teaching someone to ride and exploring trails in her new home, happy and healthy. Gwen took Scarlett for a last ride in her favourite spot, the beach. With just a rope around her neck, Scarlett took in the view and breathed in the fresh, salty ocean air. It was as if she knew that this would be her last time here but she seemed content. She sighed and shook her head, then allowed Gwen to wrap her arms tightly around her neck. Gwen planted a kiss on the mares mane and raised her face to look out into the sea before turning and galloping the strong, happy mare across the sand. We'll all miss her, but we know she'll be well loved and well cared for in her new (and hopefully forever) home
Well, in a confusing turn of events the OTTB "Haveaniceday" who was only supposed to be staying in our paddock for 2 weeks of quarantine has been here for 3 weeks and will be with us until we can find her an adopter. The lady who bought Happy off the track called us two days before she was going to come take her to her barn to tell us that shhe can't keep her, he reasons being:1. She's 4 months pregnant2. She has a 17 year old gelding with a huge monthly vet billand 3. She doesn't think she is capable of handling a 5 year old TB mare who is fresh off the trackHonestly, we don't even know why this lady bought her in the first place So now we have to find Happy a new home preferably before spring when we'll have our hands full with our foal crop.So a little about Happy: We don't know too much except that she's 5, fresh off the track although she's only got a few wins under her belt. She's got a very level head from what we've seen, but she is a thoroughbred mare so she will have her moments. She has three gorgeous gaits (we've never ridden her so this is all evaluation from the ground) so she would make an excellent dressage horse or even a hunter because of her rhythmic canter. We haven't free jumped her but we're pretty sure she has scope for miles. BUT (and this is a big but) she is an OTTB, track broke and young. She would be best suited to go to an OTTB rehab centre or a very experienced, patient trainer who will let her have some down time to settle and then start her slowly and gently.I snapped this shot of Happy in the round pen today. When she sheds ou that furry winter coat in the spring, her stunning cherry bay coat will shine through, with dapples to boot
Her adopter must agree to an $800 adoption fee (RP purposed only) and a semi-buy back contract allowing you to sell her to a suitable owner so long as you or her new owner sends her back to me if you/they can't keep her. We will not sell her with a no breeding contract but we will enforce that she isn't bred until she is older and more relaxed/happy in her new lifePM or comment if you're interestedI know @MelanieRoy (putting you on the spotlight) has a rehab centre and if you know anyone else who does feel free to tag them
Oh my goodness, she's a real stunner!! I would definitely love to have her as my newest addition if no one else has contacted you yet (Thank you so much for even thinking of me, I am absolutely flattered lol )
Well you're the first to contact me so, if you're interested send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.orgI haven't got a full list of her cc, but there's not a ton. That will take a little time but I'll give you the list once it's ready
I remembered you had a rehab cecntre because we had a little conversation about the wonders of the OTTB brain
I know that you might already have an adopter for her, but if she is going to be rehabbed and then sold let me know!! She looks so beautiful and her name is so adorable!!!
Thank you we call her Happy because she's always the first one to the gate I'm not sure if @MelanieRoy will be selling her after rehab so you may have to keep an eye on her album
I'll send you an email either this evening or tomorrow Ahh yes, the Thoroughbred mind lol
@maplewoodequine If she ends up showing promise as a show hunter, I will most likely end up keeping her. However, if she ends up liking another discipline more, I will definitely be looking to sell her to someone that can take her further in whichever discipline that may be
Ok sounds great! Just let me know!!!
Well, I'm happy to say that Haveaniceday (Happy) will soon be headed off to her new home with @MelanieRoy! She'll be rehabilitated for riding and, if she shows promise, will be headed to the show hunter ring, no doubt to win tons of ribbons
We are very happy to have her with us shortly! We look forward to her arrival
