Sunny Creeks Farm
Sunny Creeks Ranch was originally located in Appaloosa Plains, the lot held a small rustic barn and a shoebox of a home with just the necessities. Cassie James (formally Blue) inherited this and two shires (Jasper & Macy) from her Grandfather. Cassie had just finished college at the time and was just 18 when she took on such a big responsibility. She stayed on the ranch for 3 years doing light refurbishment with the help of handyman (know husband) Johnny James. She rode and did some small competing with the shires where she found her passion for competitions.
The shires were elderly and this type of work but too much strain on them so they went on loan for a quieter life at a therapy riding school until they sadly passed.
In the meantime Cassie received Fleur as a gift at just 3 years old she was a handful (still is) but the pair have put in years of work and have a bond like to other. Cassie also rescued a feedlot horse Gamble to keep Fleur company. Unfortunately that winter there was a bad storm with tore down the barn and home forcing them to move. The team moved to Silverdale Valley and stayed in a temporary home whilst on the search for their perfect home. Whilst there Cassie acquired another youngster (Ellie), eventually, the lease was up and they had to move, yet again.
They stayed in the valley and moved just a mere 10 minutes down the road. This place was smaller with only 4 stables instead of 8, a much smaller home and smaller paddocks, although small it's easier to manage than the big estate previously. The pair have been here for some time now but still searching for the perfect home, now married with a perfect little boy Theo.
Cassie now hopes to devote her time to competing Ellie and Fleur and teaching Theo to ride. Anna Johnny's sister has joined the team with her horses Ash & Tris though they currently live offsite.
Who knows what the future may hold for us at Sunny Creeks, hopefully for starters we will have a permanent place to call home. Maybe a few more members for our small team horses and people! Fingers crossed little Theo takes to horse riding too of course, and maybe another little baby...
I would like to do a bit of breeding and have some homebred foals to continue the lines of Ash, Ellie, Fleur and Tris.
