Muddy Mess in 2018!
Happy New Year!
Hope you all made it safe and sound into 2018!
We did, too! And after a few weeks now I have to give you a really positive update about everything around OtterCreekStables. I thought of a more clean and shiny picture to show it, but I muddy times have arrived and Mando seems to really love this stuff that covers his fur and gets dry. Hes such a pig, I cant get him clean. But I guess its a good picture to show how happy the horses at least are, we are lesser happy, well, we are the ones to swing the brushes again every day!
First of all, Mando is now almost 4 months old and lives a happy colt life with Catt and two other mares currently. I put Twoface and DeeDee with them to get some contrast. While Twoface is the older mare, about the age of Catt, DeeDee is a still young and flashy mare. Nontheless both mares go well with each other.
Catt is really loving and caring for Mando, I am glad that she can give him what he was searching for and that he grows up healthy and happy, as you can see! But Catt is too deep in her depressions to communicate with others and get out of her shell. Its all kept to minimal interactions while feeding times or turning in or out of the mares-groupbarn.
Still, I made the right desicions! Keeping Catt and Mando together for a while longer to strengthen der bond and help Mando, but I also realized my second plan for Catt specific.
As you might know from the previous blog entry, I have though about covering Catt because I think her very own foal will be a different and maybe better cure for Catt that just Mando, as hard as it may sound. Mando is great for her and he has brightened up her life already over the last few months being together, but in order to help Catt I made this step. I want her to see that its not her who is "defective and worthless" as she was told and handeled like from where she came to Cascable Ranch, I want to show her, that she is capable of giving life and raising her own foal. Her despression is too deep from the loss of two foals in a row, so seeing her own foal surviving might give her a new face. After all she has been working with me in our last two groundwork sessions. Mando helped her with going first on all the obstacles, but after that she trusted and followed me to do it as Mando did. I am happy that she shows signs of recovery and she is on a good way to have a normal life after all.
Next thing I want to tell you: I have a broodmare group for a next foal crop. Next to Catt I had Twoface and DeeDee covered so they can be a broodmare herd for this year and help and care for each other with their foals in the future. This could help Catt even more I guess. So you might also want to know who these irls got covered from? Catt and Twoface (due to both having overo) got covered from Maskys son Lonesome Sugar Bars, my lovely bay stallion! And I got DeeDee covered by Masky himself and I hope for some nice Cutting offspring from that pairing!
These last news are a bit older as it was still snow-times in this picture. But look at that handsome stallion, soon to be sire of two foals then. And Yes! You see right! I finally have registered my own brand! I have succesfully completed my breeders license last month and I was able to register my own brand now. Sadly I wasnt able to buy that old brand from Saki and Darren as I dont want to have contact to them anymore. We are not in any conflicts, but its just that we dont have that much in common anymore except the same breeds.
This brand was a thing I really wanted to have since I opened up my own Ranch. I dont breed on mass or regulary every year, but I breed for quality and I want to show that to others. Sold horses with this brand show the home they came from and I hope it gets recognized positively with nice and easy working and competition horses.
Also for Sugar himself, I told you I wanted him to go into Reining as he has some nice moves, but I acutally figured out he has so much fun on Western Pleasure so I will major him for that and maybe get a minor hand on Reining then. He looks so handsome and cute with his plleasure mane, you wouldnt believe what he is capable of with that cute look. He is one hell of a steed! I am in love!
Okay, I think that was all for now! New year has stared off really positive and It just can get better! See ya!
