Dear Diary, I hate working
Hey, it's Pat, again. I started working again, which I now remember how much I hated getting up early to drive. But this one is better than all the others. I still remember when Magic died, it made me so depressed. Anyways, I was over at the therapeutic stables when I saw an ad for riders to work at a new, local farm. Mrs. Bianchi told me to contact the lady of the farm, which to much reluctance, I did. I had to send in a few videos of me riding(which I hate my picture being taken) and waited for a while. Well, it wasn't a while, but it felt like it. One day the lady called me and said, "Pat, you're hired!"
Next thing I knew, I got up at 5:30 and drove half an hour to the stables. I met the owner, Bree outside of the indoor arena. The place was huge! It had so many barns and arenas, I had seen few pictures online, but I never thought ti would be this big!
I got to watch one of the riders exercise her horse. I wish I was as good as her. After she got off and introduced herself, Lara, and her horse, Heart. I wonder what kind of horse the mare is? I was told that they bred Friesians, but that does not look like a Friesian! Maybe it's a Percheron....
I got to drive around and see all the horses with Bree. I really liked her Dutch Warmblood brood mare, Melon. She was very sweet and big.
Once it got lighter outside, we went to go watch another person ride. Bree told me that the rider was Brooke, who happened to be Lara's sister. I also learned that I'm going to replace Brooke, as she has to stay in France, where the farm was originally located. So much information in one day! I don't think I'll ever be as good as Brooke. I've only ever been riding for 5 years and it looks like Brooke has been riding since she was born!
She was riding a really cute gray mare named Rosey, who is learning Dressage. She's going to start competing in shows soon, she looked really good. It would be amazing if I could ever ride a horse like her.
Next, I got to watch Bree give a lesson to one of the girls, Sasha. We had to drive a little ways out of the farm to get to the cross country course. I think Sasha is even better than me! She and her pony where galloping around and jumping into the water without even looking scared.
When untacking, Sasha got to tell me all about her pony, Dizzy. Apparently he had been dumped by a farm way back in France, and he was soooooo cute , that they had to take him with them when the farm moved to California. It's really cool to see a little pony who was starved turn into the perfect pony for Sasha.
In the early evening, I got to ride one of Bree's Arabians, Streifen. He used to be a hunter horse, but now lives at the farm, where he carries around children all day. He was very calm and didn't seem to mind me riding him.
When I got home, I was SUPER tired from all the walking and riding I did. My feet ached, my legs burned, and my arms hurt. My first day starts in 3 days and I can't wait., besides all the work I have to do. But I bet it's gonna be worth it.
I'm falling asleep while writing this, so I'm off. Till' next time diary!
