Octavia walked up to the barn, slowly. Admiring the view from the the path. This was her dream farm, the place she dreamed of a child. When she saw Kennedy standing in front of the main door, she stopped dead. His hands behind his back, holding a lead that was clipped to the halter of young looking horse.
‘What’s going on?’ she thought to herself. Kennedy let out a small chuckle, seeing the confused look on her face.
“It’s been 3 years since we met. You helped me back to get back onto my feet when I was at my lowest point. I never thought I’d find love again, and you helped me learn to fall in love. You’re my best friend, my world. The love of my life,” he said, starting to tear up. He took a deep breath before continuing.
“You’ve given me the strength I’ve been missing. I don’t know where I would be without you, but I never want to find out,” he took another deep breath, the nerves started to get the better of him.
“Octavia Spencer Ryland, will you marry me?” The nerves were evident in his voice.
“Oh my god,” tears formed in her eyes. She was speechless. “Nothing would make me happier,” she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face. They stayed like that for several minutes.
“What’s the farm and horse though?” She was curious now. Why were they here? Who was this horse?
“Well, this little guy is Benson. You’ve got a love for those Cascabel horses, so here’s another one for you. And this place, it’s yours. You told me, when we met, you had dreamed of a farm, just like this one,” Kennedy smiled, seeing the joy and tears fill Octavia’s eyes all over again.
“Ken, I don’t know what to say...I love you, so much. This place is perfect. And Benson? He’s perfect. you’re perfect. I don’t know what I did to deserve you or all of this. I’ve never been this happy,” Octavia said between the tears of happiness.
Sooo….that happened! Special thank you to @CascabelRanch for CRS Benson, a 3 year-old Silver Bay Quarter Horse gelding. Special thanks needs to go to @Marakatha as well, for donating the new Birdie Bee Farm western and camp facility.
