All about Mandingo
Manny is a 10 year old Knabstrupper stallion from Bordeaux, France. I saw his ad while scrolling through instagram, and I couldn't resist, I had to meet this horse. I ended up buying a plane ticket and flew to France, believe it or not. I stayed in Bordeaux for 2 and a half weeks, driving over to Manny's owner's stable and working with him. After hacking him for the first time, I really couldn't tell if we would be a good team. Aside from that, he was perfect, knew all his stuff and seemed like he liked his job. We began jumping and almost immediately after the 3rd jump, I knew this was the horse for me. I understood him, and he understood me, we still made mistakes, but I learned from each one, and corrected it. I feel like this horse could really help me grow as a rider, I felt it then, as I still feel today. Now, on to Manny's youth, as a 3 year old, he began his training for show jumping and dressage, he was later sold to a new owner, who participated in the hunt. After 2 years of chasing non-existent foxes, he was sold again, to a woman named Violet. She is an eventer and could really see Manny's potential for the 3 day sport. Violet owned Manny for about 8 months, until she sold him to me. Violet knew my situation with moving to a new farm, so we made an agreement, that Manny would stay in Bordeaux for another 3 weeks until the stable was finished. He's very scopey and fancy with his knees. He never hesitates towards a jump, but is also very forward. He's very personable, playful, and a trustworthy character. I bet you're thinking, "why would Violet sell such an amazing horse?" Simple, they just didn't get along. Finally, after a month wait, my dream horse and I are together and ready to compete!
Oh and here's Olivia on Popper, a 4 1/2 year old OTTB. Annndddd Manny and I
