Today was one of those famously rare sunny southern Californian days.
It's been raining and chilly the past few days, so we decided to take advantage of the last gasp of summer and let the mares and foals play in the pasture for the day, and snuck some pictures while they were having fun!
Tinkerbell and Allie are both deeply confused by the big bright Hate Ball in the sky that they haven't seen clearly for days. (Don't worry, girls, we all are.)
Suhaila's not a model, the camera just went off. (As a side note, I love comparing the colours of her, Almas, and Sutekh's coats; chestnuts have such a rich range of tones.)
Habib and Ayelet booping noses - the two of them get along so sweetly you'd swear they were twins instead of half siblings - while Mazin and Saniyya romp. Mazin has such flashy markings I'm almost sad there's a sale in process, but he's a close relative of most of our mares, including little Saniyya. We may hang onto her instead of selling her.
They say "don't look a gift horse in the mouth", but that's easier said than done when they yawn right into the camera....
If anyone was wondering, giving birth hasn't slowed Amirah down at all. If anything, she's sped up even more to keep up with Mazin.
I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to drink from a trough by shoving your entire nose in it, but you do you, Ahavah. You do you.
Tall dog attempts to introduce herself to small horse...
...who seems distinctly unimpressed. Sorry, Fay. Maybe the puppies would be more interested than Nasrin?
And finally, we have a sneak peek at next year's foal crop! Gosh, I wonder if the foal will be chestnut??
